FÖNDIKS

Project - Fostering effects through the use of digital interventions in combined school skill disorders

Project description:

The FÖNDIKS project aims to study the development of schoolchildren with isolated and combined dyslexia and dyscalculia and to evaluate training apps for these target groups. For this purpose, third graders will be tested in the areas of reading/spelling and mathematics at the Dortmund and Munich sites from the beginning of the 2018/19 school year.

A sample of children who meet the criteria for reading/spelling disorders, math disorders, or combined disorders of academic skills will be followed for an entire school year together with a group of children who have no difficulties in reading, spelling, or math. According to the study group, participating children will receive approximately three months of evidence-based online training in reading or math.

The described project is part of the BMBF-funded research network "Development and Implementation of an Online Platform for the Diagnosis and Support of Children with a Circumscribed Developmental Disorder of School Skills" (LONDI).

The overall goal of the multicenter LONDI research network (locations Berlin, Dortmund, Frankfurt, Hildesheim, Munich, Würzburg) is to develop and test an evidence-based, practical and widely available diagnostic and support platform for children with learning disorders.
